CBM (Condition Based Maintenance)

CBM is a solution that optimizes planned maintenance intervals

With the rise of decarbonization and renewable energy, we need to optimize maintenance intervals to reduce Gas Turbine Combined Cycle (GTCC) maintenance costs and to improve capacity value and opportunities to sell electricity. By compiling extensive accumulated experience, big data and knowledge in Mitsubishi Power, CBM optimizes maintenance intervals and maximizes GTCC asset value.

FEATURES

Compile and analyze operational information in real-time, optimize high-precision maintenance intervals

In the past, GTCC primarily operated as the main power source for base-load operations, however with the rise of renewable energy GTCC must now support wide-ranging modes of operation including increased numbers of startup and shutdown, low-load operation and increased load fluctuations. In this environment, it is increasingly essential to maximize capacity value (revenue from capacity payments), in addition to actual power generation to maximize asset profitability by operating plants more flexibly.
To achieve this, we are now better prepared than ever to extend maintenance intervals using a highly precise and reliable method, which involves compiling and analyzing operational data in real-time to maximize GTCC asset value.
This solution is supported by more than 20 years of know-how of remote monitoring technologies at the Mitsubishi Power TOMONI HUB.

Reduce maintenance down-time by optimizing high-precision intervals

Mitsubishi Power has worked to optimize maintenance intervals for many years. One such solution are our Long Term Service Agreements (LTSA) which help to underpin our decisions by using information about past operational modes and the condition of parts removed during previous maintenance work. To increase precision and to optimize intervals, the CBM solution uses TOMONI HUB digital technology to compile and analyze information about plant operations in real-time. As a result, we can reduce maintenance costs.

Improve availability, maximize capacity value and opportunities to sell electricity

Optimizing maintenance intervals is directly linked to maximizing opportunities for electricity sales.

Interval extension by CBM

We can also increase revenue from electricity sales by avoiding planned inspections in the summer and winter when electricity prices are high.

Optimizing inspection timing to the low demand season

Improving availability by optimizing maintenance intervals increases revenue from electricity sales in wholesale market, but it also delivers a higher asset value for the GTCC on the capacity market, which has been increasing in recent years. As a result, we can adapt to the new values required of GTCC as decarbonization moves forward.
