Mitsubishi Power offers advanced solutions to maximize equipment utilization and recover output for plants affected by aged degradation, ensuring peak performance and improved output capacity.
High-Performance Burner Replacement
Mitsubishi Power has developed high-performance burners that emit lower NOx and produce less unburned coal than previous burner models, thanks to recent technological advancements. These new burners comply with environmental regulations and can be used with a wide range of coal types. Mitsubishi Power offers both corner-firing and opposed-firing technologies to meet the diverse needs of their customers.
High Performance Mill Replacement
Mills are an essential component of pulverized boilers as they help in meeting coal variations and optimizing combustion. High-performance mills are capable of providing exceptional pulverization and classification, which ensures lower levels of unburned carbon and enables the use of a wider range of coals and co-fired biomass fuels.
Shortening Periodical Inspections
We suggest implementing modifications to plant equipment in order to reduce inspection periods. One possible modification is adding an advanced work platform inside the boiler, which would make it easier to remove clinker and access suspended tubes. Another option is to use the platform as scaffolding during periodic inspections, which has proven effective in reducing inspection time. Additionally, replacing traditional suspended tubes with necktie-type tubes has been shown to decrease the amount of clinker deposits in some boilers.
Special Inspection Technologies ―Cable-less Inner UT
Inspecting the thickness of finned economizer tubes can be a challenging task. To simplify this task, we offer a cable-less inner UT system that allows for easy inspection. Our system operates by running a specially designed sensor through the tubes, which can measure the thickness along the tube length of economizers and other heat exchanger tubes.
Over time, the reliability of a plant can decrease due to the dependable boiler pressure parts wearing out. To address this issue, we have developed risk-based maintenance (RBM) procedures, which use inspection results to identify weak points in each part of the boiler. Based on these results, we have introduced planned maintenance programs that aim to reduce the likelihood of unplanned shutdowns. In the case of deteriorated boilers, we strongly recommend that customers use the RMB procedures to ensure the smooth running of their plant.
A coal/biomass dual system (coal pulverizer/burner) can be applied to coal-fired power generation technologies to achieve a wide range of biomass mixed co-firing rates. Biomass co-firing rates can be adjusted without needing to make any major changes to the equipment used. It is also possible to have a 100% biomass firing in a boiler by adding a small amount of coal ash. Mitsubishi Power has a proven track record in the biomass firing modification of a 350 MW-class power plant.
It is crucial to maintain pressure parts that use creep strength enhanced ferritic (CSEF) steels. CSEF steels are being used more frequently in high-performance power plants, and their properties are still being researched and studied. The ASME Codes regarding CSEF steels have been updated based on recent experience and data, including the application of weld strength reduction factors (WSRF) for CSEF steels (ASME, Section I, PG-26). Mitsubishi Power recommends regular inspection and maintenance for pressure parts that use CSEF steels.
