Bubbling Fluidized Bed (BFB) Boilers
A bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) boiler is a boiler that can also handle fuels that are difficult to pulverize or less combustible. The fuel is introduced into a mixture of sand flowing at high temperatures, allowing the fuel to be efficiently combusted.
Since Mitsubishi Power delivered its first commercial BFB boiler in 1984, it has established an impressive track record of many deliveries.
Mitsubishi Power can propose the best solution to meet customer needs depending on output or fuel properties.
Overview
High fuel flexibility
Generally, BFB combustion is characterized by keeping large thermal capacity of bed material, and can stably fire various kinds of fuel such as high-moisture or low-flammable fuel. By applying the above combustion technology, Mitsubishi Power can supply BFB boiler to utilize the various fuel, which is coal, woody biomass like waste wood /construction waste, and industrial waste such as the tire derived fuel.
Reliable bed drain discharge system
In order to prevent unstable fluid bed condition caused by incombustible materials stagnation in furnace, Mitsubishi Power BFB boiler has the reliable bed drain discharge system including appropriate bottom furnace structure and air nozzle, depending on fuel property.
Low NOx combustion
The release of pollutants such as nitrogen oxides (NOx) can be reduced due to sufficiently low-temperature combustion (~900℃).
